What Age Is Best for a Facelift?

There is no one “correct” age to receive a facelift; we all age differently and have distinct cosmetic goals. That said, the average age of a facelift patient has become younger in recent years. While most facelift patients in the past were opting to undergo facial rejuvenation surgery around the age of 60, many facelift patients today are in their 40s or 50s.

As plastic surgery has become more accepted and commonplace, more people feel comfortable addressing signs of facial aging with surgery – and they want to reap the benefits earlier rather than later. Since a youthful complexion can be a valuable advantage in both the workplace and in one’s personal life, men and women now seek out facial rejuvenation procedures at the onset of wrinkles or sagging skin, before these concerns worsen. Some of our patients in their late 20s and 30s even use injectable treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or dermal fillers as a preventative measure against creases, folds, and volume loss before these signs of age can fully develop.

On the other hand, there is no age that is “too old” to have a facelift as long as you are in good overall health. During the consultation process, your plastic surgeon can review your medical history and discuss your cosmetic goals in thorough detail to help determine if a facelift is the best method for achieving the outcome you desire.
